From Comcast to Time Warner

November 15th, 2006 by Kinan Sweidan

Time Warner has recently replaced Comcast in the Dallas area. It’s so easy to notice that the service is going down hill.

They’ve been promising a very smooth migration between the two services. But if they call loosing Internet connectivity for 12 hours (on a businesses class account) a smooth migration … then god help us.

Not considering that you have to wait on the phone for an hour at least to get a real help. Why did Comcast leave Dallas???

Less communication and more work

October 31st, 2006 by Kinan Sweidan

I’ve realized lately that my productivity level is going lower than usual. The reason behind that is the distraction caused by emails, IM, SMS, skype, phones, etc. Not to mention RSS subscriptions that could easily get out of hands.

My decision was to limit my communication overhead to minimum. That means less emails, less chatting and less RSS.

I understand the importance of knowing what the rest of entrepreneurs are doing. But what more important is to do the actual work.

A lot of people have great ideas, but only few build them. Ideas don’t mean anything without a proof of concept.

So if you are surprised why I am doing less blogging & chatting. then you should know that I am up to something. You will know sooner than you think ;)

Good technical writing

September 16th, 2006 by Kinan Sweidan

I was trying to help my friend install some Excel/VB macros on her PC. Here is what I found searching Microsoft’s support website:

  • Call the Add method of the AddIns collection to add the new add-in to the list of add-ins in Excel Add-In Manager.

Yeah that was very helpful .. thank you I got it..

If you don’t believe me, see for yourself here.

Greenphone = mobile 2.0?

September 13th, 2006 by Kinan Sweidan

I’ve used Qtopia SDK in the past to write software for embedded Linux devices such as the Sharp Zaurus PDA. I was always impressed with the simplicity of their development tools.

TrollTech the company behind Qtopia has been working on a Linux development phone (GSM/GPRS). The phone will be loaded with Qtopia Phone Edition.

This phone should be perfect for developers and entrepreneurs who like their phones to do more advanced things than just making phone calls and playing songs.

Your Linux phone could run a web server or SSH or even control your home appliances.. the possibilities are unlimited.

I am expecting this phone to ignite innovative ideas in the mobile devices industry..

Can we say mobile 2.0 madness is about to start?

According to CNet, The basic package—consisting of a phone, cables and source code will cost around $700

So do you want this phone or iPhone??
