DemoCamp Dallas1

February 8th, 2007 by Kinan Sweidan

Christopher St. John is hosting the first DemoCamp in Dallas history

Date: Thursday, February 15, 2007 – 6:30-8:00
Location: Sabre Labs

A DemoCamp is a lighter-weight style of un-conference. It lasts only a few hours on a weekday evening. Unlike a BarCamp, you don’t have to present. You are welcome to come along and give feedback to the people who do (or just watch and absorb if you don’t feel like talking). Demos should have roughly a 2 minute introduction, 8 minute demonstration, and 5 minutes for questions. 15 minutes total.

If you are interested in knowing what Dallas entrepreneurs are up to then come and join us.

BarCamp Dallas was a success

January 22nd, 2007 by Kinan Sweidan

BarCamp Dallas III turnout was great. There were a lot of good sessions covering interesting topics. I was able to have very good conversations about emerging technology trends and to exchange ideas with local entrepreneurs.

Erica and Caleb showed great leadership and excellent organization.

Giovanni Gallucci did an excellent job covering the event in audio, video and pictures.

Special thanks to all the people who attended the event and to Microsoft for letting us use their Las Colinas building.

The output of this session was amazing. I had the opportunity to talk to the best web gurus and discuss ways to improve Tag My City.

Also it was a great event for networking with other people working on developing interesting entrepreneurial ideas.

Special thanks to Erica for her great efforts to improve community networking and to promote local entrepreneurs.

Hi-Fi Prototyping

September 15th, 2006 by Kinan Sweidan

Yesterday’s presentation about High Fidelity Prototyping by Mark Kraemer was very impressive.

Mark talked about prototyping and it’s effects on customers, investors, analysts, programmers, etc. He also covered some of the HCI (Human Computer Interaction) methodologies such as stories, scenarios, mockups and usability.

Mark Kraemer - Refresh Dallas

I found his presentation to be very helpful because it presented a real life example. And covered prototype development during different iterations (phases) of his project’s life cycle (SDLC).

Prototyping is a tricky issue and there is no perfect formula for good prototyping. There are some guidelines that you can follow. However, you always need to modify your techniques according to your specific requirements, audience, time and budget.

You can download a PDF version of the presentation here

Thanks to mark for his efforts and thanks to Refresh Dallas for making this happen..
